NEEM TREE.

Scientific name : Azadirachta indica.
Synonym: Margosa, Bead tree, Indian lilac, etc.

 Geographical sources: 

               Found in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, South Africa, and East Africa.
            

                The neem tree is approximately 30 mts tall. Neem tree has a stronghold in soil and hence prevents soil erosion. Neem is well known for its medicinal properties. Every part of the neem tree has some other medicinal values. Neem is bitter in taste. It has various properties like antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, contraceptive as well as a sedative.

Uses of neem :

           It is used in a variety of ways in medicine, cosmetics, grain storage, etc.                                         

                                    Medicinal uses : 

        Neem is useful for the treatment of a variety of diseases like leprosy, diabetes, controls blood sugar levels, eye disorders, bleeding nose, intestinal worms, gingivitis, etc.
   

Cosmetic value :  

           Neem is used in various;
  • Soaps: Due to its antifungal properties it can cure various skin disorders and protects the skin from any kind of fungal infection.
  • Shampoo: helps to prevent and treat dandruff and various other hair issues.

Storage :

            While storing grains the dried seeds of neem are placed in the corners of the storage space to protect the grains from insects.

      The best way to safeguard and healthify your gut is to chew a few neem leaves once a day. neem leaves are effective blood cleansers.
  Neem is of great importance also in commercial products like ; 
  • Neem oil: spermicidal agents.
  • Neem cake: anti-nematodes.

NOTE: INADEQUATE QUANTITIES OF NEEM IS VERY BENEFICIAL FOR US BUT IF IN EXCESS IT CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS LIKE VOMITING, DIARRHEA, DROWSINESS, BLOOD DISORDERS, SEIZURES, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, COMA, BRAIN DISORDERS, AND DEATH.
NEEM OIL AND NEEM BARK ARE LIKELY UNSAFE DURING PREGNANCY AS THEY CAN CAUSE MISCARRIAGE.
